About the role
The University of British Columbia is seeking a Research Assistant / Technician 2 to support the Gross Anatomy Laboratory and related teaching areas. Working under the supervision of the Gross Lab Senior Technician, you will help ensure smooth operation of anatomy courses and labs.
Key responsibilities
- Repair skeletons and anatomical models; maintain and organize student bone collections and prosected specimens.
- Inventory and maintain the prosection collection for teaching labs.
- Set up and clean up labs, demonstrations, and examinations.
- Maintain the Multipurpose Lab, plastination lab, morgue, and related areas before and after teaching sessions.
- Receive, prepare, embalm, store, and move cadavers; assist with cooling and dissecting table arrangements.
- Enter data promptly to update cadaver and specimen databases.
- Collect, ship, and document cadaveric serology samples.
- Order supplies and equipment; box cadavers for shipment to external sites.
- Assist instructors during laboratory sessions and external workshops.
Required profile
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Capability to work under supervision and collaborate with senior technicians.
- Experience handling biological specimens and maintaining laboratory cleanliness.
- Attention to detail for inventory and data entry tasks.
Required skills
- Data entry for specimen databases.
