Registered Practical Nurse – Retirement Home

About the role

Casa Dolce Casa is seeking a care‑centered team player to fill the Registered Practical Nurse role in a retirement home. This position offers the chance to be a critical member of the health and wellness team, providing compassionate care to senior residents.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the health and wellness of all residents and ensure compliance with the Resident Bill of Rights.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Provide medication support and administration, including narcotic control.
• Respond to emergency situations and document all actions promptly.
• Direct health and wellness staff, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
• Communicate resident status changes to the Head Nurse, families, and physicians.
• Ensure compliance with the Retirement Homes Act, 2010 and College of Nurses of Ontario standards.

Required profile

• Current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario, including medication administration qualification.
• Relevant nursing experience in a similar setting (preferred 1+ year).
• Valid First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain within one month of hire).
• Strong communication skills with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
• Effective time‑management and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
• Knowledge of applicable legislation such as the Retirement Homes Act, 2010.
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Point Click Care is an asset.
• Successful criminal/vulnerable sector and TB screening, with satisfactory references.
