Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

About the role

The Royal Alexandra Hospital’s Emergency Department is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred care in a fast‑paced, acute setting. You will work with a diverse population, including vulnerable and multicultural patients, providing safe and effective nursing interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department, adhering to hospital policies and nursing standards.
• Utilise critical thinking, problem‑solving and decision‑making to assess and respond to acute medical situations.
• Teach, counsel and advocate for patients and families, promoting health education and safety.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, holistic patient care.
• Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
• Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS‑HCP) certification.
• Experience working with diverse, high‑acuity patient populations, preferably in emergency or trauma settings.
• Passion for serving vulnerable communities and ability to work rotating days, nights and weekends.

Required skills

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS‑HCP) competency.
