Registered Nurse – 18‑month Maternity Leave Contract

About the role

The South-East Ottawa Community Health Centre is seeking a Registered Nurse for an 18‑month maternity‑leave contract. This full‑time, community‑based position involves providing nursing care in clients' homes as part of an interdisciplinary primary‑care team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care—including assessments, treatments, and education—under physician or NP supervision.
• Perform routine procedures such as medication administration, immunizations, allergy shots, ear irrigation, dressing changes, and specimen collection.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, allied health professionals, and administrative staff to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Document all patient encounters promptly and accurately in the electronic medical record system.
• Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives and educate patients and families on health maintenance and disease prevention.

Required profile

• Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• 3–5 years of nursing experience, preferably in community or primary health‑care settings.
• Experience working with culturally diverse populations, including newcomers and refugees.
• Valid Ontario driver’s licence and reliable personal vehicle for travel between client locations.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Required skills

• PSS (medical software) or similar EMR system proficiency.
• Strong computer and electronic medical record documentation skills.
