Registered Fire Protection Technician – Smoke Control

About the role
Community Fire Prevention Ltd is hiring multiple Registered Fire Protection Technicians specialized in smoke control to join the team full‑time. Reporting to the Board and the Operations Manager, technicians will lead inspections, maintenance, repairs, and service calls on fire and life‑safety equipment while mentoring junior technicians.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, semi‑annual and annual fire inspections per the 2018 BC Fire Code and applicable CAN/ULC, NFPA and CSA standards.
- Repair and troubleshoot fire and life‑safety equipment in accordance with code requirements.
- Complete electronic inspection and deficiency reports accurately and promptly.
- Participate in after‑hours emergency on‑call rotation.
- Maintain communication with internal and external contacts regarding inspections and project status.
- Mentor and coach Junior Fire Prevention Technicians.
- Stay current with industry standards, product changes, and best practices.
- Maintain certification with ASTTBC and/or CFAA in good standing.
Required profile
- ASTTBC RFPT or CFAA certified technician.
- Valid BC driver’s licence with abstract.
- Experience in smoke control discipline.
- Strong electrical, electronics and mechanical background.
- Ability to assess and troubleshoot life‑safety systems and provide solution‑based details.
- Detail‑oriented, resourceful and proactive in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proven industry success and passion for fire protection.
