Refrigeration Technician – Service Division

About the role

Black & McDonald is seeking an experienced Service Refrigeration Technician to join its Service Division in Regina, Saskatchewan. Reporting to the Service Supervisor, you will provide on‑site maintenance, repair and troubleshooting for a range of refrigeration and HVAC equipment, ensuring reliable operation for our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and service customers’ refrigeration systems, including RTUs and HVAC units.
• Inspect and service components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, fan motors, fans and expansion valves.
• Perform system checks, diagnose faults, conduct refrigerant recovery and execute electrical and gas system troubleshooting.
• Complete service documentation, daily logs and recovery reports.
• Research and resolve complex system problems and ensure safety compliance through proper PPE use and inspections.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous experience as an HVAC/Refrigeration technician.
• HVAC certification and proven soldering/brazing abilities.
• Knowledge of local building codes and ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Physical ability to work outdoors in extreme weather and lift heavy equipment.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with HVAC and refrigeration systems, including RTUs.
• Mechanical and diagnostic expertise for compressors, condensers, evaporators and related components.
• Refrigerant recovery and system troubleshooting.
• Electrical and gas system troubleshooting.
• Blueprint reading and compliance schematic interpretation.
• Soldering and brazing.
• Clean Class 5 SK driver’s licence.
• Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Outlook, mobile applications).
