RCMP Receptionist & Switchboard Operator

About the role

The RCMP in Maple Ridge is seeking a professional Receptionist/Switchboard Operator to provide front‑desk and telephone support for all sections. The role is the first point of contact for the public and staff, requiring courteous service and accurate information handling.

Key responsibilities

• Answer, screen, and route all incoming telephone calls.
• Determine appropriate referrals and connect callers to the correct section or staff member.
• Take and relay messages when staff are unavailable.
• Respond to routine public and internal inquiries by phone and at the reception counter.
• Direct visitors to the appropriate department or contact.
• Maintain awareness of section personnel and functional responsibilities.
• Type, prepare, file, and index correspondence, reports, memoranda and other documents.
• Provide clerical assistance and support overflow work from sections as needed.

Required profile

• Excellent knowledge of switchboard operation and modern office practices.
• Ability to memorize factual information about municipal departments and interpret it effectively.
• Clear, pleasant speaking voice and courteous interaction with the public and RCMP personnel.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• High school graduation with switchboard and typing training or equivalent experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain RCMP Security Clearance.
