Quality Control Technician - Concrete Testing

About the role

RM Mobile, a division of RMC Group of Companies, delivers on-site concrete production and delivery for large-scale projects across Western Canada. It is hiring a Quality Control Technician for a major project in Sturgeon County. The technician tests concrete at the mobile batch plant and on site to make sure it meets client and engineering specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Complete concrete quality tests such as temperature, air and slump.
• Monitor pours and work with customers so the concrete meets specifications.
• Evaluate material properties for use in concrete production.
• Communicate with project and site managers about concrete specifications and recommend improvements to product quality.
• Optimize concrete mixtures by adding appropriate admixtures and products.
• Liaise with plant staff, batcher, customers and suppliers on product quality.
• Provide technical knowledge and support to customers.
• Follow all safe work practices, wear PPE, attend safety meetings, complete FLHAs and keep safety records.

Required profile

• Valid Class 5 driver's licence, reliable transportation and a clean driving abstract.
• Ability to perform physical tasks of up to 50 lbs; outdoor work in varying Alberta weather, including heat, cold, dust and noise.
• 1-2 years of experience in the concrete, construction or a related industry.
• Civil engineering technology diploma or related education preferred.
• Preferred: experience testing concrete, asphalt, soil and similar materials.
• Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing is required.
