Quality Assurance Technician – One-Year Contract

About the role
We are seeking a Quality Assurance Technician on a one-year contract to support Mark Anthony Brewing’s production facility in Surrey. The role ensures that raw materials, in‑process batches and finished packaged products meet strict chemical, physical and microbiological specifications, safeguarding product quality and food safety.
Key responsibilities
- Perform laboratory testing on incoming raw materials, in‑process and finished products, including alcohol content, pH, total acidity, bitterness, colour, sorbic acid, VDK and other parameters.
- Conduct packaging integrity tests such as CO₂ levels, dissolved oxygen/TPO, pasteurisation verification, can seam inspection and overall package quality.
- Execute microbiological analyses using aseptic sampling, conventional methods and PCR techniques.
- Carry out sensory evaluations, daily taste panels and off‑flavour detection to ensure compliance with CCBD standards.
- Maintain clear communication with brewing, batching, packaging and maintenance teams to prevent non‑conforming product release.
- Keep the quality labs organized, support continuous improvement projects and participate in the company’s Food Safety Program.
Required profile
- Laboratory experience, preferably in a QC/QA role within a brewing or beverage production environment.
- Understanding of brewing and fermentation processes is an asset.
- Degree in food science, chemistry, microbiology, engineering, brewing or related field preferred.
- Detail‑oriented with strong record‑keeping and communication skills.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
Required skills
- Microbiology testing (aseptic sampling, conventional methods, PCR).
- Analytical chemistry testing (pH, alcohol content, acidity, bitterness, colour, sorbic acid, VDK).

- Use of laboratory instrumentation for beverage analysis.
- Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency.
