Quality Assurance Supervisor

About the role

IKO Industries Ltd., a Canadian-owned manufacturer of roofing and building materials, is looking for a Quality Assurance Supervisor in Sumas. The supervisor organizes and manages the plant's quality function, works closely with the Process Engineer and the Operations team, and acts as the company's quality representative during customer visits.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage quality assurance metrics to track improvement, progress and accountability.
• Identify and resolve production quality issues, and monitor the quality impact of new processes, methods or equipment.
• Manage and audit daily lab and production quality testing, and monitor vendor compliance to quality standards.
• Design, manage and control documentation and reporting procedures, and communicate quality results to plant KPIs.
• Review customer claims, identify root causes and lead corrective action plans with the process engineer and Operations.
• Organize the QA function with the Quality/Research department and the management team, and set QA compliance objectives.
• Use data and statistical analysis to monitor performance and report results in Monthly Raw Material Variance meetings.
• Manage the plant's inspection and product release programs for incoming, in-process and finished goods.

Required profile

• Post-secondary education in a technical field; a degree in chemical or mechanical engineering preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in an industrial process manufacturing environment in a quality assurance role, with hands-on experience with quality management systems.
• Experience with statistical process control, process optimization and continuous improvement; Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Integrity, accountability, strong attention to detail, time management and organizational skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
