Python Developer – Contract (Fantasy Sports)

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Python Developer to join OfficePools.com on a 9‑month contract. The role focuses on building new capabilities for our fantasy sports pools, working in a fast‑paced, data‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement complex scoring and comparison algorithms handling multi‑dimensional data sets.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks using techniques such as memory‑mapping and database indexing.
• Design efficient relational schemas for time‑series statistics and user‑generated data.
• Develop and extend RESTful APIs with Django Rest Framework to serve backend data to frontend applications.
• Consume and parse external data feeds (XML/JSON/REST) and integrate them into internal representations.

Required profile

• Advanced proficiency in Python 3.x, including performance optimisation and advanced data structures.
• Strong experience with scientific computing using NumPy for large‑scale matrix calculations.
• Deep knowledge of Django (2.2+ / 3.x) and complex ORM queries.
• Experience with distributed task processing using Celery.
• Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks (React) to understand data consumption.
• Solid understanding of DevOps practices for managing Python environments and deployment pipelines.
