About the role
The University of British Columbia is seeking a Public Services Assistant to support shared library services across Koerner Library, Law Library, David Lam Management Research Library and the Canaccord Learning Commons. This full‑time position works on‑site and involves a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.
Key responsibilities
- Perform circulation duties such as checking out, renewing, and returning library materials and equipment.
- Handle patron inquiries, process fines, and manage borrower accounts.
- Assist with collections processing, barcode updates, and stacks maintenance.
- Maintain the appearance and safety of library facilities.
- Coordinate student assistant activities and respond to emergencies during solo evening/weekend shifts.
Required profile
- Ability to work flexible hours, including opening, closing, evenings and weekends.
- Strong customer‑service orientation for interacting with students, faculty, staff and the public.
- Effective communication with internal teams and external service providers.
