About the role
Spark Power is seeking an experienced Proposal Lead to drive the development and execution of winning pursuit strategies for utility, renewable energy and industrial electrical projects across North America. The role provides hands‑on leadership throughout the full proposal lifecycle and coordinates cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality submissions.
Key responsibilities
- Direct end‑to-end proposal development for RFPs, RFQs and other competitive procurements, establishing schedules, compliance plans and submission timelines.
- Lead kick‑off meetings and coordinate cross‑functional teams including Operations, Engineering, Safety, Finance, Legal and Business Development.
- Manage content creation, ensure consistent messaging, oversee final production and submission, and guarantee compliance with branding and quality standards.
- Champion proposal governance processes such as Go/No‑Go reviews, quote reviews and executive approvals.
- Train, coach and mentor proposal team members on best practices and continuously improve procedures, including adoption of AI‑enabled tools.
Required profile
- 7+ years of progressive experience in proposal management, business development support or pursuit management within construction, engineering, utilities or professional services.
- Proven track record of leading complex, high‑value proposal submissions and managing multiple concurrent pursuits.
- Strong leadership and project management abilities with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Post‑secondary diploma or degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or a related technical field; professional certification such as APMP or PMP is a plus.
Required skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with SharePoint, Teams and Adobe Acrobat/Visio.
- Familiarity with public procurement platforms such as MERX, Bonfire, Bids&Tenders and Ariba.
- Use of AI‑enabled proposal tools and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, graphics).
- Experience with CRM systems and strategic pursuit planning.
