Project Manager, Eastern Canada

About the role

The Project Manager will be based in Toronto and report to the Director of Construction for On and Eastern Canada. Acting as the owner’s representative, this role oversees the full lifecycle of new‑build commercial retail projects, ensuring delivery on schedule, within budget, and to Choice Properties’ quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project budgets and schedules to support leasing negotiations and Capital Committee approvals.
• Lead procurement processes, including RFPs, bid evaluations, contract negotiations and award.
• Manage multidisciplinary project teams—architects, engineers, contractors, municipalities, and vendors—through clear communication and collaboration.
• Obtain permits, ensure regulatory compliance, and monitor construction execution through site visits.
• Control contingency utilization, forecast costs, and maintain a national project tracker for senior leadership reporting.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of progressive construction project management experience, including at least 5 years on ground‑up commercial retail projects.
• University degree or college diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• Professional designations such as PMP, Gold Seal Certification, or P.Eng. are considered assets.
• Valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and ability to travel across Ontario and Eastern Canada.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.
• Experience using construction management platforms such as Bluebeam, Procore, or PMWeb.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and equipment.
• Ability to develop detailed project plans using project management tools and methodologies.
