Project Engineer – Mechanical Testing

About the role
Armstrong Fluid Technology seeks a Project Engineer to lead mechanical design, development, installation and commissioning of pump testing systems and manufacturing improvement projects. The role combines deep technical expertise with a focus on standardisation and continuous improvement across global facilities.
Key responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design, integration and commissioning of test rigs, including 3D modelling, P&IDs and system documentation.
- Perform sizing calculations and engineering analysis for pumps, piping, valves and fluid‑handling equipment.
- Provide engineering oversight during installation, troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical issues, and develop commissioning procedures.
- Conduct technical evaluations, root‑cause analysis and validation of pump testing methodologies against required standards.
- Support standardisation, lean manufacturing initiatives and develop engineering templates, calculation tools and best practices.
Required profile
- Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial Manufacturing or related field with 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, manufacturing, maintenance or project engineering; experience with pump manufacturing and fluid‑handling systems is highly preferred.
- Experience in commissioning, validation, troubleshooting and production support in a manufacturing environment; certifications such as PMP, Lean, EIT/PE are considered assets.
Required skills
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, fluid systems, hydraulics and pump performance.
- Familiarity with automation systems, instrumentation, controls, VFDs and data acquisition systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
