About the role

The Beaufort Delta Divisional Council (BDDEC) is seeking a dynamic Program Support Teacher to join its community‑driven school in Paulatuk. The role focuses on developing and delivering a competency‑based curriculum that honors Indigenous knowledge, promotes equity, and integrates land‑based learning.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with educators, Elders, and community members to design and implement a competency‑based curriculum rooted in Indigenous values.
• Foster a learning environment that respects and incorporates diverse Indigenous perspectives.
• Implement strategies that promote equity and inclusion, addressing disparities and building a sense of belonging for all students.
• Serve as a liaison between the school and the community, gathering input and feedback to continuously improve programs.
• Develop and integrate land‑based education opportunities, connecting students with traditional practices and the local environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education and eligibility for a Northwest Territories teaching certificate.
• Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, history, and traditions.
• Experience with inquiry‑based instructional pedagogy and competency‑based curriculum implementation.
• Proven ability to conduct competency‑based assessment and evaluation.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and knowledge of Northwest Territories Inclusive Schooling practices.
• Familiarity with land‑based education principles.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
