Production Operator

About the role

IKO Industries Ltd., a Canadian-owned manufacturer of roofing and building materials, is hiring a Production Line Operator in Chester, Ontario. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the operator runs the production line, including operating machinery, feeding raw materials into the process, clearing jams, checking finished goods against quality specs and preparing products for shipment.

Key responsibilities

• Follow safety policies, complete health and safety pre-start checklists and document quality checks at regular intervals
• Operate manufacturing equipment per established procedures and run counterbalance, propane-powered forklifts
• Record production numbers and downtime causes using computerized systems and handwritten reports
• Perform general housekeeping and additional duties assigned by supervisory staff

Required profile

• Able to work flexible, rotating shifts of 8, 10 or 12 hours
• Minimum 2 years' experience in heavy-industrial manufacturing or construction preferred
• Minimum 1 year of proven forklift experience preferred
• Comfortable in a dusty environment, with good manual dexterity and attention to detail
• Fluent in spoken and written English, able to follow directions and communicate well
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds routinely, stand for long periods, work at heights and in confined spaces, and walk or stand 90% of the shift
