About the role
Mastercard is seeking a curious, analytical, and self‑directed investigator to join its Payment Threat Intelligence team. The role focuses on identifying, investigating and analysing emerging fraud schemes, cyber threats and criminal activity that affect the global payments ecosystem.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct investigations into emerging fraud schemes, cyber threats and criminal activity affecting the payments ecosystem.
- Analyze large and diverse data sets to identify patterns, anomalies, relationships and trends indicating emerging risks.
- Develop investigative hypotheses and pursue leads using internal data, open‑source research and intelligence resources.
- Produce clear, actionable intelligence reports, briefings and assessments for technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Monitor developments across fraud, cybercrime and payments threat landscapes to spot new risks.
- Collaborate with product, data‑science and stakeholder teams to enhance Mastercard’s understanding of threats.
- Contribute to methodologies, analytical frameworks and intelligence processes that improve investigative outcomes.
- Translate complex analytical findings into intelligence that supports customer decision‑making and ecosystem security initiatives.
Required profile
- Experience conducting investigations, analytical research, fraud analysis, cyber‑threat analysis or similar work with large or complex data sets.
- Proven ability to identify patterns, develop hypotheses and draw conclusions from incomplete or evolving information.
- Strong research and critical‑thinking skills with a natural curiosity about fraud, cyber threats and criminal ecosystems.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple lines of inquiry and drive investigations forward with limited direction.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex findings to diverse audiences.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting investigative approaches as new information emerges.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across technical, analytical and business‑focused teams.
What we offer
- Competitive salary range of $75,000‑$120,000 CAD per year.
- Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
