Product Designer (Construction Toys)

About the role

Mattel’s Montreal Building Sets Campus is looking for a creative Product Designer to shape the next generation of construction toys. You will work in a fast‑paced, interdisciplinary environment, turning ideas into fully realised products that inspire play worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Ideate and develop new construction‑toy concepts from sketch to production.
• Create product development sketches, block constructions, and conduct formal and functional research.
• Define decorations, colors, and develop a deep knowledge of licensed properties.
• Produce 3D study models, mock‑ups, and prototypes.
• Generate presentation images, product submissions, and instruction‑booklet visuals.
• Participate in cost and feasibility analysis and develop new 3D parts ready for injection molding.
• Collaborate closely with Graphics, Engineering, Marketing, and Project Management teams.
• Present concepts in formal presentations to internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• DEC or bachelor’s degree in industrial design or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of relevant product design experience, preferably in the toy industry.
• Passion for design and construction toys.
• Strong hand‑sketching and model‑making abilities.
• Excellent project presentation skills and a proactive, team‑oriented attitude.
