Product Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the creation of innovative office‑furniture products from concept to market launch. You will collaborate with industrial design, product management, manufacturing, quality and supply‑chain teams to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Own the mechanical design of new products from concept through production launch.
• Develop engineering solutions that balance performance, cost, quality, manufacturability and aesthetics.
• Create complex 3D models, assemblies and production drawings using SolidWorks.
• Design components using sheet metal, plastics, wood, tubing, castings, extrusions and related processes.
• Build and evaluate prototypes together with the prototype shop and manufacturing teams.
• Plan and conduct product testing to validate performance, durability, ergonomics and standards.
• Resolve technical issues through iterative design and analysis.
• Prepare engineering documentation including BOMs, drawings, specifications and change records.
• Collaborate with suppliers to develop components, tooling and manufacturing solutions.
• Support manufacturing during pilot builds, launch and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5‑8+ years of mechanical product design experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Advanced SolidWorks expertise with complex assemblies.
• Strong Design for Manufacturing (DFM) background.
• Hands‑on prototype development and product testing experience.
• Experience with sheet metal, injection molding, wood, welding, tubing, casting or extrusion processes.
• Ontario P.Eng. designation or eligibility.
