Produce Manager

About the role

The Produce Manager leads the produce department of a Foodland store, ensuring an engaging shopping experience while driving sales, profit, and customer loyalty. This role combines people leadership, operational oversight, and compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Coach, motivate, and develop department staff, fostering a culture of passion for food and excellent customer service.
• Manage all aspects of store operations for the produce area, including budgeting, labour costs, inventory control, product presentation, and merchandising.
• Oversee ordering, receiving, organizing, rotating, and merchandising of produce to meet company standards and seasonal trends.
• Ensure adherence to occupational health & safety, food safety, and other regulatory requirements.
• Communicate operational changes and policy updates to team members.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in leading retail teams and managing store operations.
• Strong fiscal responsibility with experience handling budgets and labour cost control.
• Excellent product knowledge of fresh produce, including seasonal trends and promotions.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, food quality, and regulatory compliance.
