Process Engineer/Scientist – Silicon and III‑V

About the role

Excelitas Technologies is seeking a Process Engineer or Process Scientist to support the fabrication of micro‑electronic devices on silicon and III‑V materials. You will work closely with product owners to develop, optimise and control manufacturing processes while driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support for silicon devices, III‑V photodiodes and laser emitters fabrication.
• Troubleshoot process‑related issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Apply Six Sigma methodology to promote continuous improvement.
• Develop, maintain and optimise automated process‑control mechanisms.
• Participate in process qualification, transfer to production and equipment acquisition.
• Design and execute experimental studies to improve manufacturing processes.
• Document results, present findings and ensure compliance with quality and change‑management procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (physics, electrical, chemical), physics or chemistry; master’s degree or additional experience is an asset.
• At least 1 year of experience in micro‑electronic device fabrication.
• Strong organisational skills, rigor and ability to work effectively in a team.
• Fluent in French and English (spoken and written) for a francophone work environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of micro‑fabrication processes: photolithography, metrology, wet etching, plasma etching, diffusion, CVD deposition, metallisation and optical coatings.
• Experience with plasma etching and wet etching (asset).
• Understanding of Six Sigma methodology and statistical process control (green belt certification is an asset).
