About the role
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced child caregiver to join a private household in Toronto. The role involves providing daily care, supervision, and educational support for children of various ages, including those with special needs.
Key responsibilities
- Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties while maintaining a safe, healthy home environment.
- Travel with the family on trips, assisting with child supervision and housekeeping tasks.
- Bathe, dress, and feed infants and children, following parents' discipline methods.
- Instruct children in personal hygiene, social development, and organise games and outings.
- Keep daily activity and health records, and prepare nutritious meals.
- Transport children to and from school, appointments, and extracurricular activities.
- Support emotional well‑being, help with homework, and encourage social interaction.
Required profile
- Secondary school graduation or equivalent experience.
- 1‑2 years of child‑care experience, including work with autistic, mental‑health, physical, intellectual, ADHD, and learning‑disability children.
- Clear criminal record, vulnerable sector check, medical exam, and references.
- Willingness to travel regularly; ability to handle items up to 9 kg (20 lb).
- Strong communication, organization, patience, honesty, and reliability.
Required skills
- Behaviour Management Certification.
- Developmental Services Worker (DSW) Training.
- Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR.
- Intensive Behavioural Intervention Certification.
- Mental Health First Aid Certificate.
- Relationship Development Intervention (RDI) training.
- Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour (UMAB) course.
- CPR and First Aid Certificates.
- Red Cross Babysitting course.
- Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate.
