Principal Machine Learning System Engineer

About the role

PointClickCare is seeking a Principal Machine Learning System Engineer to define the technical vision of its ML platform. The role will lead the design, implementation, and scaling of pipelines, tooling, and infrastructure that support both traditional ML and generative AI across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with product and engineering leadership to translate business objectives into a multi‑quarter technical strategy and roadmap.
• Define reference architectures and standards for scalable data and ML pipelines covering training, evaluation, deployment, and serving.
• Set direction and best practices for MLOps, including CI/CD for models, model registry, feature stores, and experiment tracking, and drive build‑vs‑buy decisions.
• Establish reliability, observability, and performance practices for production ML systems, including monitoring, alerting, and automated remediation.
• Design and enforce security architecture for the platform, covering authentication, role‑based access control, audit logging, and compliance monitoring.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, influencing the organization‑wide roadmap for ML infrastructure.

Required profile

• Expert level in Python and Java with strong software engineering fundamentals.
• Deep experience designing and building ML platforms and MLOps workflows at scale.
• Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization, and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proven track record of setting technical direction and driving organization‑wide initiatives across multiple teams.
