Primary & Junior Reading Specialist – In‑Home & In‑Person

About the role

Join Prep Academy Tutors as a Primary and Junior Reading Specialist delivering in‑home, in‑person instruction across Vancouver. You will support students in reading and other core subjects, aligning with the British Columbia curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Provide personalized academic coaching and support aligned with the BC curriculum.
• Develop customized lesson plans and supplemental assignments to promote deeper understanding.
• Deliver targeted remedial support and enrichment activities for diverse learner needs.
• Adapt instructional strategies for students requiring special education support.
• Communicate regularly with parents about progress, goals, and improvement strategies.

Required profile

• Current, valid registration with the BC Ministry of Education or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching or tutoring primary/junior students, comfortable with in‑home, in‑person instruction.
• Familiarity with the British Columbia curriculum and ability to tailor instruction.
• Reliable transportation to travel to students’ homes throughout Vancouver.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of the BC Primary/Junior curriculum.
• Experience in reading intervention, literacy instruction, or special education.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
