Prevention Worker – Child & Family Services

About the role

Reporting to the Band Representative Manager, the Prevention Worker will provide prevention and early intervention services, using the least intrusive measures to enhance child, youth and family well‑being and to keep families together. The role supports children and families from an early‑help and intervention lens, collaborating with culturally supportive community services.

Key responsibilities

• Support children and families through early help and intervention approaches.
• Plan, organize and deliver social and recreational activities, education and wellness programs tailored to cultural needs.
• Provide land‑based social, recreation and educational programming with a holistic, culturally supportive approach.
• Collaborate with individualized, strength‑based, child‑centered services to achieve family outcomes that minimize child welfare investigations.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Social Work or related field.
• Minimum two years of experience working with children and families in child welfare.
• Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring abilities.
• Knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act, Child Wellbeing Law and related regulations.
• Excellent teamwork, communication, self‑motivation and adaptability.
• Professionalism, integrity and respect in all interactions.
• Familiarity with Biigtigong Nishnaabeg’s vision, mission and programs.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows operating system.
• Experience using Microsoft Word.
• Experience using Outlook email client.
