Ocean Networks Canada (ONC) is a world‑leading not‑for‑profit organization supporting ocean discovery and technological innovation. The President and Chief Executive Officer provides strategic leadership to advance ONC’s mission, scientific excellence, operational effectiveness, and long‑term sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Shape and execute ONC’s strategic direction, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with governments, funders, Indigenous partners, industry, and the research community.
• Secure sustainable funding and support organizational growth in partnership with the University of Victoria and the Board of Directors.
• Ensure delivery of world‑class ocean observatory infrastructure, services, and research impact.

Required profile

• Accomplished executive with a proven record of leadership in complex research, government, not‑for‑profit, academic, or technology‑intensive environments.
• Strong understanding of scientific research, innovation, stakeholder engagement, and government relations.
• Demonstrated ability to build strategic partnerships, secure funding, and navigate complex governance structures.
• Inclusive leader who fosters trust, empowers teams, embraces diverse perspectives, and champions equity, diversity, inclusion, and Indigenous engagement.
