Prescribed Fire Training Manager

About the role

The Prescribed Fire Training Manager will lead the management and support the delivery of the Canadian Prescribed Fire Training Program at the University of British Columbia Okanagan campus. This role is central to building the program’s core infrastructure and ensuring effective field training across Canada.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement policies, procedures, and support systems for the in‑person field component of the program.
• Coordinate with the Director and Operations Manager to align program activities with university policies.
• Hire, supervise, and mentor a team of Regional Leads and Training & Outreach Facilitators.
• Advise senior leadership on a national communication and engagement strategy.
• Oversee the communications plan and ensure successful delivery of prescribed fire field training.

Required profile

• Proven experience in program management and implementation.
• Ability to lead and supervise multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of university policies and procedures.
• Experience advising senior leadership on communication strategies.
