Postmaster – Full‑Time Community Leader

About the role

Take on the responsibility of a community leader with Canada Post. As the Postmaster you will be the face of the local post office, supervising staff and promoting postal products and services to the public and businesses. The role reports to the Superintendent/Local Area Manager and requires you to manage the office’s operations and revenue.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with the local community regarding Canada Post services and products.
• Sell and promote postal products and services to the public and businesses.
• Provide suitable premises in a central, accessible location within 30 days of hire.
• Administer the post office to meet retail hours and delivery expectations.
• Manage postal revenue, assets, records and prepare reports.
• Supervise staff, keep the office neat and maintain cleanliness according to standards.
• Assist with effective management of mail delivery routes and may sort mail.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or provincial equivalent, or experience in business administration.
• Ability to provide an owned or leased, barrier‑free premises one month before start date.
• Experience interacting with the public in a retail or service environment, including sales and cash transactions.
• Knowledge of regulations, methods and procedures for processing mail and providing postal services.
• Physical ability to lift mail containers up to 50 lb, push/pull boxes and stand for extended periods.

• Leasing allowance of $2,283 per year to offset premises costs.
• Potential supplemental allowance paid annually to help with premises expenses.
