Policy Advisor – Strategy and Integration

About the role

The National Research Council is seeking a Policy Advisor to join its Strategy and Integration team in Ottawa. This role supports senior leadership, including the Secretary General, the NRC President, and the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, by providing strategic policy advice and corporate guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver policy recommendations that align with the organization’s strategic objectives.
• Prepare briefing notes, speeches, and reports for senior executives and government officials.
• Analyse legislative, regulatory, and programmatic developments affecting the research and innovation sector.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Contribute to the development of the NRC’s long‑term policy framework and integration initiatives.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in public policy, government affairs, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and French (Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB).
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and with senior leadership.
• Understanding of the Canadian innovation and research landscape.
