Pipelayer – Construction Projects in Greater Vancouver

About the role

Clearway is a leading Canadian construction company with over 50 years of experience in sewers, watermains, transportation and more. The company is seeking a skilled pipelayer to join its crews on job sites across the Lower Mainland, supporting a variety of civil utility projects.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction drawings.
• Set and operate pipe lasers, maintain elevations, and install sanitary, storm, and water main components.
• Work in confined spaces, perform sewer laser setups, bypasses, benching, and parging of manholes.
• Handle all excavation types, including open‑cut and shoring methods such as trench boxes and speed shoring.
• Coordinate with heavy‑equipment operators and use hand signals to ensure safe pipe installation.
• Spot existing utilities during excavation and train pipelayer helpers.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a pipelayer on water, sanitary or storm systems.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and construction drawings.
• Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
• Willingness to become a member of IUOE Local 115 if not already.

Required skills

• Blueprint reading and interpretation.
• Pipe laser operation and elevation control.
• Civil utility component installation (sewers, water mains, culverts, manholes).
• Confined‑space work and safety procedures.
• Excavation techniques including open cut and various shoring systems.
• Coordination with heavy‑equipment operators.
