Pharmacy Assistant – Remote Communities in Northern Canada

About the role

The North West Company is seeking Pharmacy Assistants to support its remote stores across northern Canada. You will work directly with the pharmacist to ensure accurate prescription processing while delivering superior customer service in underserved communities.

Key responsibilities

• Receive prescriptions, verify compliance with provincial regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Perform computer‑based tasks such as data entry, price checks, patient information updates, refill processing and report generation.
• Fill prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or regulated pharmacy technician, selecting, counting, measuring and preparing products.
• Label, organize and route prescriptions for pharmacist approval, including verbal refill authorisations where permitted.
• Support cognitive services and maintain inventory control of pharmacy stock.
• Assist the pharmacist with additional operational duties as needed.

Required profile

• Legal right to work in Canada.
• Certification from a recognized college or online pharmacy technician program.
• Minimum two years experience as a pharmacy assistant.
• Willingness to relocate to remote northern communities.
