Peer Specialist – Indigenous Early Psychosis Intervention (Part‑Time Contract)

About the role

The Peer Specialist – Indigenous Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI) draws on lived experience of mental health challenges to provide peer‑based support, advocacy, and practical assistance. Housed within the B’saanibamaadsiwin program, the role serves Indigenous and non‑Indigenous clients across the Muskoka and Parry Sound districts, offering culturally safe, recovery‑oriented services in person, in community settings, and virtually.

Key responsibilities

• Connect clients with recovery, community, cultural, and wellness resources aligned with their goals and preferences.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary EPI teams while maintaining the distinct boundaries of peer support.
• Deliver services from agency offices, community locations, or online, following the NAVIGATE coordinated specialty care model.

Required profile

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (or equivalent) and personal lived experience with the mental health system as a consumer/survivor or family member.
• Demonstrated knowledge of peer support principles, Indigenous cultures, histories, and the impacts of colonisation.
• Ability to provide culturally safe, respectful support to both Indigenous and non‑Indigenous clients, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid Ontario G or G2 driver’s licence, reliable transportation, and liability insurance covering at least $1,000,000.
