Payroll Specialist

About the role

OPTrust is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join the People and Communications team in Toronto. The role is responsible for end‑to‑end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely delivery across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Process the full bi‑weekly payroll cycle for all jurisdictions, handling data entry, mass uploads and time‑entry processing.
• Validate payroll inputs, investigate exceptions and perform reconciliations to guarantee accurate earnings.
• Prepare and submit statutory remittances and financial reports in line with regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with HR Business Partners, Service Delivery teams and IT on system implementations, configuration changes and special projects.
• Develop and maintain advanced payroll reporting to support business, compliance and data‑security needs.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in payroll processing and a solid understanding of statutory payroll requirements.
• Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
