Part‑Time Teaching Position in Applied Science & Engineering

About the role
This part‑time appointment supports the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering by delivering a core course on the properties and behavior of engineering materials. The role is ideal for graduate students or early‑career engineers with a strong background in chemistry and materials science.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver lectures covering atomic bonding, crystal structures, phase diagrams, and material properties.
- Design and grade assignments, labs, and examinations related to metals, polymers, ceramics, and semiconductors.
- Provide academic advising and support to enrolled students.
- Collaborate with faculty to ensure course content aligns with curriculum standards.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a closely related field.
- Successful completion of CHEM 1072 or CHEM 1872 (or equivalent) with a minimum grade of C.
- Preference for candidates holding a P.Eng. designation or who are eligible to obtain it.
- Ability to meet budgetary and enrolment requirements as determined by the department.
Required skills
- Strong knowledge of materials science and engineering material properties.
- Proficiency in interpreting phase diagrams, especially the iron‑carbon system.
- Understanding of semiconductor, polymer, and ceramic behavior.
