Part‑Time Janitor/Maintenance Worker

About the role

Join Lookout Housing and Health Society as a part‑time Janitor/Maintenance Worker, providing essential cleaning and building upkeep for residents of the Rhoda Kaellis Residence. You will work two days a week, ensuring a safe, clean, and well‑maintained environment for adults with low or no income.

Key responsibilities

• Sweep, wash, and wax floors; clean and disinfect all interior surfaces.
• Remove garbage, empty recycling containers, and manage waste disposal.
• Monitor, maintain, and repair building equipment, including mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Perform minor repairs, landscaping, and suite upkeep as needed.
• Assist new staff, oversee volunteers, and collaborate with team members to meet facility standards.
• Adhere to health and safety policies, remaining alert and attentive during shifts.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 education with at least two years recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and training.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a diverse, challenging environment.
• Strong physical and mental capacity to perform manual tasks and operate equipment.
• Clean criminal record clearance and, if applicable, at least two years sobriety.

Required skills

• Current Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certificate.
• Crisis Intervention Skills Training (asset).
• Building Service Worker Diploma (asset).

• Part‑time schedule: Sundays and Mondays, 06:30‑14:30 (7.5 hours per shift).
• Hourly wage ranging from $25.18 to $26.84 CAD, based on seniority.
