Part‑Time Child Care Worker (PAL) – School‑Aged Program

About the role

BGC Okanagan is hiring a part‑time Child Care Worker (PAL) for its Penticton Club. Join a school‑age child care team that provides a safe, supportive environment where children can engage in meaningful activities and feel a sense of belonging.

Key responsibilities

• Provide caring, nurturing supervision and ensure safety of children aged 6‑12.
• Plan and implement activities and special events for the program.
• Transport children using Club Vans to and from school and recreational sites.
• Recruit, orient, train, monitor and support program volunteers.
• Liaise with community service providers and professionals to coordinate services and referrals.
• Maintain open communication with parents or caregivers.
• Ensure program goals and individual child goals are met.
• Comply with agency policies, licensing regulations, risk‑management and safety standards.
• Maintain records, statistics and produce required reports.

Required profile

• Diploma, certificate or relevant experience working with children in recreation, education or social services.
• At least 19 years of age, meeting provincial licensing standards.
• Current First Aid Certificate and Food Safe certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Class 4 driver’s licence.
• Successful completion of agency screening, including a criminal record check.
