Part‑Time Caretaker – Toronto Child Care Centre

About the role

Establish and maintain a high quality standard of cleanliness and timely maintenance of the child care centre. This permanent part‑time role works 5.5 hours per day (4 pm‑10 pm) at the Jane St. Child Care Centre in Toronto.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and safe environment inside the centre, including mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, laundry, waste removal, window and washroom cleaning.
• Maintain the exterior grounds, such as debris removal, seasonal tasks like cleaning eavestroughs, grass cutting, snow and ice removal.
• Keep playgrounds tidy, fences and gates in good working order.
• Perform minor repairs to buildings, equipment and kitchen appliances.
• Follow a seasonal maintenance schedule and manage inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies.

Required profile

• Experience as a general handyperson with significant minor‑repair and machinery maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of Toronto Public Health and Ontario Health and Safety regulations.
• WHMIS certification and familiarity with green cleaning products.
• Ability to lift over 20 lb, use a ladder and work independently or as part of a team.
• Acceptable vulnerable‑sector police reference check.

What we offer

• $23.08 hourly (approximately $41,997 per annum prorated) with a competitive benefits package including health & dental coverage and paid time off.
