Part-Time Instructor Guard (Lifeguard/Swim Instructor)

About the role

The Instructor Guard works at the Fieldgate Sports Complex in Whitby, providing a safe and welcoming aquatic environment while delivering Lifesaving Society swim programs. This part‑time position reports to the Supervisor of Aquatics and combines lifeguarding duties with instructional responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol the pool deck and continuously scan the water to ensure patron safety.
• Recognize and respond to emergencies, performing rescues in line with National Lifeguard Service (NLS) standards.
• Enforce pool rules, address concerns, and provide public education on safety.
• Deliver Lifesaving Society swim programs in an inclusive, enjoyable learning setting.
• Provide instruction and guidance to swimmers of various ages and skill levels.

Required profile

• Current certification with the Lifesaving Society and National Lifeguard Service.
• Ability to work part‑time hours as scheduled by the aquatic department.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to community safety.
