About the role
The City of Windsor is seeking a Parking Technician to join its Operations department. This full‑time, temporary position supports the maintenance and improvement of parking facilities across the city, ensuring reliable operation of all control devices and related systems.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain, repair and install parking control devices, lighting, vehicle counters, alarms, fee computers and security systems in garages.
- Service electronic and electro‑mechanical equipment such as pay‑and‑display machines, automated cashier‑less systems, micro‑processors, ticket spitters and gate mechanisms.
- Install and maintain lighting and electrical systems, including carbon monoxide alarms and solar charging stations.
- Write and modify simple computer programs for parking databases and scheduling tools.
- Maintain daily logs, reports and documentation; coordinate layout plans with contractors.
- Collect and process parking fees, handle cash and credit transactions, and manage supply deliveries.
- Perform occupational health and safety duties as required.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or experience in equipment maintenance preferred.
- Ability to work safely in garage environments and follow safety protocols.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to keep accurate records.
- Good communication skills for interacting with supervisors, contractors and the public.
