Paralegal

About the role

CanDeal Group Inc. is seeking a Paralegal to support its legal function across a fast‑growing Canadian fixed‑income marketplace. Reporting to the Head of Legal (who also serves as Chief Privacy Officer), you will act as the primary legal point of contact on a variety of commercial, regulatory and transactional initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day legal support for all business units, escalating complex matters to the Head of Legal as needed.
• Draft, review and maintain a broad range of commercial contracts, including supplier agreements, technology licences, outsourcing, professional services and data‑distribution arrangements.
• Collaborate with the vendor‑management team to ensure contracts align with strategic initiatives and corporate policies.
• Liaise with external counsel on specific projects and legal opinions.
• Support technology initiatives, information‑security, privacy, compliance, intellectual‑property and corporate‑policy matters.
• Assist with contract interpretation and, where applicable, securities‑law related issues.

Required profile

• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a small legal team.
• Experience handling commercial and regulatory matters in a corporate environment.
• Strong analytical, research and communication skills.
• Familiarity with Canadian financial markets and capital‑markets products is a plus.

Required skills

• Knowledge of contract drafting and review processes.
• Understanding of technology initiatives, information‑security and privacy regulations.
• Awareness of compliance, intellectual‑property and corporate‑policy frameworks.
• Basic grasp of securities‑law concepts (nice to have).
