Operator – Bridge Maintenance (OR1-4)

About the role

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is seeking an Operator (OR1-4) to join its Bridge Maintenance Crews across Manitoba. You will work on a 5‑to‑10‑person team to keep bridges safe and functional for the travelling public.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain bridge‑maintenance equipment, hand tools and power tools.
• Perform physical maintenance tasks on bridges and related structures.
• Follow safety procedures to protect crew members and the public.
• Assist with minor repairs, concrete placement, carpentry, metal fabrication and welding as needed.

Required profile

• Experience in manual or physical labour work.
• Proven ability to operate hand and power tools safely.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Effective verbal communication and ability to follow written and oral instructions.

• Forklift, skid‑steer and under‑bridge crane operation (training provided)
• 5‑ton tandem truck operation (training provided)
• Carpentry basics
• Concrete mixing, placing and finishing
• Metal fabrication and welding
• Knowledge of occupational safety, health and risk management
