On‑Call Post Office Assistant (Term 1)

About the role

Canada Post is looking for an on‑call Post Office Assistant to join the Sainte‑Madeleine branch on a term basis. The successful candidate will provide front‑counter services, assist customers with postal products, and help keep daily mail operations running smoothly. Preference is given to residents of the local community, although applicants from outside the area may be considered as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Sell postal products and services to businesses and the public.
• Sort, distribute, and process mail into the appropriate classifications.
• Provide customers with information, forms, and guidance on postal procedures.
• Address delivery and service difficulties, resolving problems promptly and thoroughly.

Required profile

• High school diploma or provincial equivalent, or experience in business administration.
• Experience interacting with the public in a retail or service environment, including sales and cash transactions.
• Understanding of general or post‑office accounting systems.
• Physical ability to lift mail containers up to 50 lb, push or pull boxes, sort mail and stand for extended periods.
• Flexibility to be available for temporary, on‑call work.
