About the role

The City of Woodstock is hiring two on‑call crossing guards to ensure the safety of children at designated street crossings. This part‑time, permanent position offers flexible shift hours and a supportive municipal work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Arrive at assigned crossings at scheduled times and remain on‑site for the entire shift.
• Wear a reflective safety vest and operate a hand‑held stop sign.
• Hold the stop sign while extending the opposite arm to guide children safely across the street.
• Escort children across the roadway, ensuring all vehicles stop and remain stopped.
• Maintain a vigilant presence and report any safety concerns to the Crossing Guard Supervisor.

Required profile

• Entry‑level candidates with a reliable attendance record.
• Physical ability to hold a stop sign and reach with the opposite arm for several minutes at a time.
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Strong sense of responsibility for child safety.
