Network Analyst I – Network Management Centre

About the role

The Network Management Centre (NMC) supports UBCNET, the university’s extensive network infrastructure that serves teaching, learning and administrative activities across multiple campuses and remote sites. As a Network Analyst I, you will consult with users, assess capacity needs, monitor performance and provide second‑level technical support for the Enterprise Core network.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, design, engineer, configure and troubleshoot LAN/WAN, campus and data‑centre networks.
• Support network security functions, including firewalls and DNS services.
• Maintain and troubleshoot specialized services such as VoIP, wireless, video and multimedia.
• Analyze user requirements, assess capacity, and monitor network performance metrics.
• Provide second‑level operational and administrative support for routers, switches, VLANs and virtual routers.
• Participate in on‑call after‑hours support and scheduled maintenance activities.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of enterprise network architecture and protocols.
• Ability to consult with users and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Experience with performance monitoring and capacity planning.
• Willingness to work on‑call and handle off‑hours incidents.
