Media Relations Coordinator

About the role

The Green Party of Canada is seeking a dynamic Media Relations Coordinator to serve as the primary liaison with journalists, podcasters, and influencers. Working remotely from the greater Ottawa area, you will support the Leader and caucus by managing media inquiries, crafting press materials, and helping shape the party’s owned‑media strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to media inquiries promptly and arrange interviews for the Leader and caucus members.
• Write, edit, translate, and distribute press releases, advisories, and statements in English and French.
• Organise press conferences, media availabilities, and other media events as needed.
• Build and maintain relationships with national English‑ and French‑language media outlets.
• Identify earned‑media opportunities, pitch story ideas, and monitor legislative and current‑affairs issues.
• Coordinate responses to misinformation and ensure consistent messaging with the party’s brand.
• Develop relationships with podcasters, independent journalists, and content creators aligned with Green Party values.

Required profile

• Fluent bilingualism in English and French.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently from home and attend occasional on‑site events on Parliament Hill.
• Passion for climate action, social equity, and Canadian democracy.
