Mechanical Design Technologist

About the role

The National Research Council (NRC) is seeking a Mechanical Design Technologist to join its Design and Fabrication Services Branch in Ottawa. You will contribute to cutting‑edge research by creating detailed mechanical designs and drawings for experimental apparatus, instrumentation, and high‑quality prototypes.

Key responsibilities

• Produce accurate mechanical designs and detailed drawings for fabrication of experimental equipment and prototypes.
• Ensure designs capture all specifications and are readily interpretable by fabrication staff.
• Support projects with intermediate‑level design requirements across multiple research portfolios.
• Collaborate with engineers, researchers, and fabrication teams to deliver design solutions.

Required profile

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related technical field.
• Demonstrated commitment to the NRC core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect, and Creativity.
• Ability to work full‑time on‑site at the NRC Ottawa location.
