Material Technician

About the role

Egis is seeking a Material Technician to join its expanding team in Alberta. You will play a critical part in ensuring the quality, safety and compliance of construction materials across a variety of infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Perform field material testing such as compaction, hot‑mix asphalt sampling, asphalt coring and occasional wet concrete sampling.
• Operate nuclear gauges to verify density and moisture of granular bases and determine asphalt density, content and gradation.
• Maintain daily journals, record test results and prepare standardized QA/QC reports.
• Support laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance and calibration.
• Travel to multiple site locations across Alberta and work flexible schedules as required.
• Adhere to health, safety and environmental regulations and participate in related training.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education in Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology or a related field.
• Experience conducting field and laboratory material tests in construction environments.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset and ability to work independently on site.
• Willingness to travel and work extended periods away from home.
