Mason's Helper – Construction Site Assistant

About the role

The Mason's Helper will support the masonry crew on various construction sites across Ontario. You will work outdoors, often at heights and in dusty conditions, assisting with concrete and asphalt work while ensuring safety and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Load, unload and transport construction materials to and from the site.
• Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring and barricades.
• Mix, pour and spread concrete, asphalt and mortar as directed.
• Remove rubble, debris and clean work areas.
• Operate and tend to machines such as mixers, grinders, and compressors.
• Direct traffic around construction zones and assist the site medical examiner.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in construction or masonry support.
• Valid Class 1 or A driver’s licence with own transportation.
• Certificates: Aerial lift, CSTS, WHMIS, First Aid, Fall Arrest Protection, Propane Safety.
• Ability to handle loads over 45 kg (100 lb) and work in fast‑paced, physically demanding environments.

Required skills

• Operation of reciprocating, circular and concrete saws.
• Use of mortar and concrete mixers, grinding and grouting machines.
• Experience with air compressors, drills and forklift.
• Proficiency with hand tools and basic construction equipment.
