Marine Operations Superintendent

About the role

The Marine Operations Superintendent will lead daily marine and port activities for Canpac Marine Services, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant transportation of goods. Reporting to senior management, this role oversees a team of over 20 staff and coordinates all aspects of marine logistics, from scheduling to budgeting.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and monitor daily marine operations and department performance.
• Plan, organize, and adjust schedules, policies, and shipping documentation.
• Prepare operational reports for senior management.
• Recruit, supervise, and train staff, ensuring compliance with safety and security standards.
• Manage finances, budgets, and negotiate service rates.
• Oversee vehicle and cargo dispatch, inventory control, and record keeping of cargo, hours, distance, and fuel consumption.
• Ensure transport compliance with regulations and maintain first‑aid readiness.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in marine transportation or related marine industry.
• Experience supervising teams of 20+ personnel.
• Trades certificate or diploma related to marine engineering, naval architecture, or similar fields.
• Willingness to relocate and travel as needed.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to pass security, drug, and background checks.
